Yetthatwasn’tquiteenoughtostop10/7fromhappening.Afterall,mostofthepeopleinIsraelwereoftheopinionthattheydidn’tneedagun,andthatthemilitarycouldkeepthemsafefromanysuchattack.Sure,therewasterrorism,butagundoesn’tdomuchagainstasuicidebomberinmostcases. Atleast,that’sthereasoningI’vegleaned. But10/7happened.Like9/11here,itchangedthings,atleastforatime.  ItseemsIsraelisarearmingupmuchlikeAmericanswouldinsuchasituation. AmongthecoreIsraelinationalnarrativesthathavebeenfracturedbytheHamasterrorattacksandmonthsofwarandviolenceisthenotionthatIsrael’sethosonfirearmsdiffersfromthatoftheUnitedStates. Bothcountriescanbecharacterizedasgun-centricdemocracies,butaccordingtotheIsraelinarrative,theU.S.isalandoftoomanygunsandtoofewlaws,whileIsraelis“trusttheirstate,anddon’tfeareachother.”Acommonrefrainemphasizes
