AccordingtotheDailyWire,theDOJ’sCommunityRelationsService(CRS)trackedthegroupalongsideactualhategroupssuchastheKuKluxKlan,asinternaldocumentsshow.TheemailsthatdetailtheDOJ’smonitoringofMomsforLibertywererevealedthankstoaFOIArequestfromAmericaFirstLegalonbehalfoftheDailyWire.
TheCRSistaskedwith“preventingandrespondingtocommunitytensionsandhatecrimes,bias,bullying,anddiscrimination,”andtrackedMomsforLibertythroughGoogleandLexisNexisalerts.TheDailyWirereportedthattheDOJinitiallytriedtokeepthesedocumentshiddenbyignoringaFOIArequestbutwasultimatelyforcedtothankstoalawsuitbyAmericaFirstLegal.
