The Department of Homeland Security has refused to follow a law requiring it to take DNA samples from illegal immigrants taken into custody, which would ensure that adults were with their own children rather than traffickers pretending the be their parents, and identify whether they had been linked to unsolved violent crimes in the U.S., employees told the U.S. Senate this week.
