TALLAHASSEE—Floridathisweekrevampedalawsuitthatchallengesanewfederalrulerequiringmoregunsellerstobelicensedandrunbackgroundchecksonbuyers,inpartpointingtolowerattendanceatgunshows.
Lawyersforthestateraisedthegun-showissuebecausetheysaidtheruleisreducingtaxrevenuefrompurchasesofadmissiontickets.Bidenadministrationattorneyslastmontharguedthataninitialversionofthelawsuitshouldbedismissedbecausethestatehadnotshownlegalstanding—anissuethatlosttaxrevenuecouldaddress.
