Republican introduces measure to ban autopen use when presidents sign certain items

Rep. Addison McDowell introduced a proposal to ban autopen usage when presidents sign engrossed bills, executive orders, pardons, and commutations

Rep.AddisonMcDowell,R-N.C.,hasintroducedabillwhichwoulddeclarethatengrossedbills,executiveorders,pardons,andcommutationsmayonlybelegallysignedbythepresident,andanautopendevicemaynotbeused. Themeasureiscalledthe“BanonInklessDirectivesandExecutiveNotarizationsActof2025,”ortheBIDENAct.
