Gun ban for marijuana users gets high court review

TheU.S.Armyveteran,avidhunter,andfatherofthreeisoneof440,000Pennsylvanianswithastate-authorizedmedicalmarijuanacardunderaprogramlawmakersenactedin2016.
Greene,whosteppeddownasDAearlierthisyear,saysthecannabisheuses“onceortwiceeveryweekortwo”hassignificantlyimprovedhisqualityoflifebutalsocamewithwhathecallsanunconstitutionaltrade-off.
“Asofrightnow,Ihavezerofirearms,”GreenetoldABCNewsinaninterview.“Icouldserve10yearsinprisonforhavingfirearmsbecauseIam,accordingtothefeds,anillegaluserofmarijuana.Imean,it’s(expletive).”
Fornearly60years,thepossessionofagunbyanyonewhounlawfullyusesorisaddictedtocontrolledsubstances—includingmarijuana—hasbeenbannedunderfederallaw,evenwhentheyarenotintoxicated.
