Clarence Thomas has been on the Supreme Court for more than thirty years.
But in one sentence on Ted Cruz’s podcast, he explained the Second Amendment better than most politicians ever will.
The right to keep and bear arms was not created by the government.
The Second Amendment assumes the right already exists.
It tells the government what it cannot do to it.
That is the entire difference.
Politicians talk about what rights they are willing to “give” you, what guns they will “allow” you to own, and what freedoms they will “permit” you to keep.
Clarence Thomas has the order right:
Rights first.
Government second.
And then he tells a story about Justice Breyer, a porch, a machete, and what he would be doing if somebody walked up demanding money.
