DeSantis: Second Amendment Sales Tax Holiday continues in Florida

For the second year, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced sales tax relief on firearms, ammunition and hunting gear at a Lakeland press conference on Sept. 14.
He announced the renewal of the Second Amendment sales tax holiday at the Tenoroc Public Shooting Range in Lakeland, which he said will also include a new archery center approved in this year’s state budget. The new center will expand existing offerings in the public shooting facility, which already has supervised rifle and handgun ranges.
The tax relief won’t just apply to ammunition and firearms, though. It’ll also include camping equipment and accessories, like holsters, grips and cleaning kits.
“It’s going to be something that’s going to be really, really exciting and just adds to all the great outdoor offerings that we have here in the state of Florida,” DeSantis said of the sales tax relief.
Until Dec. 31, residents can purchase fishing, hunting and camping supplies free of sales tax. Information on what’s included for the tax exemptions can be found on FloridaRevenue.com/HuntFishCamp.
George Warthen, FWC’s chief conservation officer, said this tax holiday allows Florida families “the opportunity to purchase equipment at a discounted rate.”
When discussing the upcoming archery center in Lakeland, Warthen said archery is a sport that is “a gateway to the outdoors,” where many families who participate in archery get involved in conservation.
“The facility that will be built here, because of Gov. DeSantis’s leadership and support from the Legislature, will help advance those shooting sports efforts to get more kids in the outdoors and a future generation that cares about wildlife conservation in Florida,” he added.
