It appears that the avalanche of new anti-gun laws in California may only stop when every single civilian-owned firearm is gone from the state.
New legislation has come on the heels of shootings in Florida and Texas, and liberals have been tastelessly using the blood of the victims to press for passage of these measures. The latest proposals will see Californian’s stripped of their Second Amendment rights through gun confiscation and reducing the number of firearms allowed to be bought within a month.
“The Mercury News reports that Assemblyman Rob Bonita (D-18) is pushing controls to bar 18-20-year olds from buying firearms. A companion bill, sponsored by State Sen. Anthony Portantino (D-25), passed the Senate earlier this week. Portantino’s bill also puts a one-gun-a-month purchase limit in place for Californians.
State Sen. Nancy Skinner (D-9) is pushing for an expansion of the state’s Gun Violence Restraining Orders. Whereas the orders currently authorize the confiscation of firearms, Skinner would also have them authorize the confiscation of gun parts. And Assemblyman Mike Gipson (D-64) wants to close the “Ghost Gun Loophole” by regulating any parts that a prohibited person could use to build a gun at home.”
It appears that California has given up any pretense of respecting the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
Raising the legal age to purchase firearms strips thousands of 18-20 year old Americans of their Constitutional rights.
Limiting firearm purchases to only 1 per month is simply a knee-jerk reaction to recent events and would have done nothing to stop the shootings in Parkland, Florida or Santa Fe, Texas. As more and more gun control legislation rolls out it is only widening the gap between pro-gun supporters and those that wish to ban guns in California.
It would not be surprising to see many people move out of the state to protect their 2A rights as they continue to be a target of California legislators.
