After the tragic shooting, in Santa Fe, many Texans were quick to blame the National Rifle Association (NRA) and guns as the problem.
This logical fallacy has little basis, in fact, as the NRA can’t kill people as an organization and guns can’t kill anyone by themselves.
As the MSM continues its hysteria over guns, and pushes for more gun control, the new President of the NRA thinks something else is to blame.
From RedState, Oliver North had the following to say in an interview:
“The disease in this case isn’t the Second Amendment. The disease is youngsters who are steeped in a culture of violence. They’ve been drugged in many cases. Nearly all of these perpetrators are male. … Many of these young boys have been on Ritalin since they were in kindergarten.”
While the MSM wants you to believe that North is specifically blaming shootings on Ritalin, he is not.
We know very little about what happens to the human brain after prolonged use of Ritalin at certain doses.
North is on the right track as many of the mass shooters have been linked to prescription medications, most notably anti-depressant or anti-anxiety pills.
Obviously, this is only pointing out a connection and further studies must be conducted to concluded that certain medication affect a person’s moral judgement.
In an interesting note, some users of anti-depressants or anti-anxiety medication do report feelings of isolation, suicide, or a detachment from society.
