Rolling Stone found a man printing guns in the woods because he does not want to end up on a government list.
Mask on.
Gloves on.
3D printed guns.
No serial number.
No background check.
No registry.
And the reason he says people are doing this is because some of them do not want their names ending up on a list somewhere — especially after California’s concealed carry list was leaked to the public.
That part is real.
But here is the question nobody in that piece seemed ready to answer:
Who built the list?
The gun community did not build that.
The gun community has been warning about registries for years. We were the paranoid ones. The crazy ones. The people yelling that once the government creates a list of gun owners, that list can be leaked, abused, weaponized, or used later.
And now the same people who voted for government oversight of the Second Amendment are shocked when the government oversees them.
You cannot vote for registration, permits, fingerprints, waiting periods, and government permission slips, then act surprised when your name ends up in a database.
That is the contradiction at the center of this entire story.
Nobody in the gun community was stopping left-wing people from owning firearms.
Nobody was stopping gay people from buying guns.
Nobody was stopping trans people from buying guns.
The range did not check your voter registration at the door.
The gun shop did not ask who you love before running your background check.
The only rule has always been simple:
Do not hurt innocent people.
That is the whole application.
So print guns if you want to print guns. The same Second Amendment arguments I have made for years apply to him the same way they apply to me.
But do not pretend the gun community created the government list you are now hiding from.
We fought it.
You voted for it.
And if you want to live in a place where you do not need a mask, a barn, and a 3D printer just to exercise a constitutional right, that version of America already exists.
The only thing standing between you and it is the ballot you keep filling out.
